Experience
My specialty is teaching writing. I can help you or your student with essay writing for virtually any subject as well as personal statements, cover letters, and resumes. In addition to writing, I can assist your student with any other English or Humanities subjects with which he or she is struggling, including grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. I am also well versed in the English and writing components of the SAT, ACT, and GRE tests. As I was earning my master's degree, I taught numerous classes in college level writing. I also spend several semesters tutoring in the university writing lab. In addition, my graduate coursework focused heavily on the study and teaching of writing. After graduating, I continued to hone my skills as a private tutor. I have recently relocated to the Richmond area, and I look forward to continuing my tutoring work here. I have a real passion for English and writing and for helping students to understand and appreciate these subjects. I have a track record of working well with reluctant and fearful students who feel that they "just aren't good writers" for one reason or another. I believe that all students can be good writers. They just need the right advice and encouragement.
